Summer Camps 2011

These camps are designed for the young dance artists at heart. They give students the chance to explore the creative and exciting world of dance. Classes are offered in numerous topics and ages. A nonrefundable enrollment fee of $20.00 per person is required. (Fee credited towards SDT 2010-2011 fall registration fee.) Classes are limited to 15 participants and are subject to change due to enrollment. Participation is on a first come, first served basis. All classes will require a standard dance “costume” which will be addressed the first day of camp for the final show day. Dance attire is encouraged all camp days. Please bring a snack and bagged lunch for each camp day. Family and Friends Presentation on the final day of class

Princes & Princesses(3-4 Year Olds)
This camp will explore the stories of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Swan Lake for a great princess parade. The students will learn how to act and dance with grace and will try on beautiful costumes and props. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras
(Must be potty trained and not need bathroom assistance from an adult).

Tutus & Tiaras (3-4 years old)
Does your little one dance around the house pretending to be Cinderella or the Sugarplum Fairy? Then send your child to "Tutus & Tiaras". For one week, children will take an age appropriate ballet class, create ballet-oriented crafts and learn how ballet dancers tell stories with pantomime. During these four hours, the children will also have a story time where they can learn the story of ballets such as The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Coppelia and other classical ballets. (Must be potty trained and not need bathroom assistance from an adult.)

Fairy Tales & Fairies(3-4 years old)
This Camp is a one-week dance camp for children 3 to 4 years of age. In addition to a daily creative movement class, children participate in fairy tale and fairy-related activities. Our mission is to nurture a love of dance through individual attention and generous positive reinforcement, so we keep our classes small, between 10 and 12 children. (Must be potty trained and not need bathroom assistance from an adult.)

Cinderella’s Castle (3-4 years old)
This camp will let our imaginations soar as we tell the story of Cinderella. Everyday we will add onto the story with dancing, singing, crafts and story telling. Camp is designed to introduce children to movement, music, rhythm and body awareness. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras.

Enchanted Garden(3-4 year old)
This camp focuses on the magical creatures that children love so much: Fairies! We will explore the stories of Peter Pan; Sleeping Beauty and Fairytopia. The students will learn about the fairies in the classical ballet history. They will craft their own fairy wings and use their imagination to dance and fly! On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras (Must be potty trained and not need bathroom assistance from an adult.)

Bieber Fever (5-10 year old)
Dance, act and sing your way through the fun-filled week preparing for your fabulous show on Friday! Create your own costumes, stage sets, props, make-up and hairstyles with help from our fantastic staff! Our very active day also includes dance, games, crafts, movies and more!

Mardi Gras Mash-up (5-8 years old)
Dance, act and sing your way through the fun-filled week preparing for your fabulous show on Friday! Create costumes, enjoy a few carnival games, win some fancy beads and try your hand at making a mardi gras mask!

GLEE-tastic (8-16 years old)
Test out your pipes as we karaoke the night away. Enjoy dancing and listening to the GLEE soundtracks and learn a fabulous GLEE mash-up dances.

Dance Intensive (9-16 years old)
This intensive is designed to improve technique, broaden choreography, and performance experience. It will also expose students to a variety of dance forms. Experience in Jazz and Ballet is necessary to participate. The week will conclude with a performance of both faculty and student pieces.

Summer Dance Intensive (9-17 years old) Technique
Come out and learn the hottest new age appropriate hip hop dance moves that you see on TV. In this high-energy camp we use the latest music like Radio Disney, Kid’s Bop, and more! The class environment is relaxed so all beginners feel comfortable. Students learn street dance, a combination of urban hip-hop and jazz dance. While working hard and having fun, students develop self-confidence and presentation skills.
