Summer Camps 2010

These camps are designed for the young dance artists at heart. They give students the chance to explore the creative and exciting world of dance. Classes are offered in numerous topics and ages. A nonrefundable enrollment fee of $20.00 per person is required. (Fee credited towards SDT 2010-2011 fall registration fee.) Classes are limited to 15 participants and are subject to change due to enrollment. Participation is on a first come, first served basis. All classes will require a standard dance “costume” which will be addressed the first day of camp for the final show day. Dance attire is encouraged all camp days. Please bring a snack and bagged lunch for each camp day. Family and Friends Presentation on the final day of class

Dance with Angelina Ballerina! (3-4 years old)
A 3 hour camp designed especially for the youngest students. The camp offers an unforgettable summer experience to the dancers who are still taking their first steps in the art of ballet. Through the stories of Angelina Ballerina, we will explore the ballet class format and interaction with other dancers. We will dance with partners and in groups. We will make friends and share our craft ideas. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras!

Ballerina Princess! (3-4 years old)
This camp will explore the stories of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Swan Lake for a great princess parade. The students will learn how to act and dance with grace and will try on beautiful costumes and props. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras!

The Enchanted Fairyland (3-4 years old)
This camp focuses on the magical creatures that children love so much: Fairies! We will explore the stories of Peter Pan; Sleeping Beauty and Fairytopia. The students will learn about the fairies in the classical ballet history.  They will craft their own fairy wings and use their imagination to dance and fly! On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras!

Wish to be a Princess! (3-4 years old)
All the favorite princesses in one dance?! Not impossible! This camp will bring the stories of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and Aladdin together for a great princess parade. The students will act and dance princess-like. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras!

The Kingdom of Sweets (5-12 year old)
This camp will give those Nutcracker Loving students the great opportunity to explore the magical and festive holiday celebration. By the end of the camp the students will know more adapted dances of the original ballet version. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras!

Be a Dancing Star (Disney Rocks) (5-12 year old)
Whether you dream of being in the spot light on a big stage or just love to imagine yourself being a friend with a Disney Star, this camp will make you feel like a real dancing star! Through the main movements’ of the jazz technique and some hip-hop influences the students will experience the process of creating of an extraordinary dance show! On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance combination that they had learned at camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements. Bring your cameras!

Cheer Camp (5-12 years old)
This camp is a great camp for all ages and levels of cheerleading. From beginners to long-time veterans, this camp will be filled with tons of exciting cheerleading activities. Expert instructors will teach tumbling, stunts, motions, dances, jumps, flexibility, and more. Be sure to wear shorts and T-shirts with tennis shoes. And don't forget the water bottle.

Broadway’s Next Stars (9-17 years old)
One week of musical theater study. Participants receive “hands-on” training in every aspect of preparing for an exciting new 2008 production. Students expand onstage talent and backstage knowledge through rehearsal and performance. This class is great to take with old friends and/or to find new friends for a lifetime. Students must purchase/provide performance attire.

Hip Hop Camp (9-17 years old)
Students learn street dance, a combination of urban hip-hop and jazz dance. While working hard and having fun, students develop self-confidence and presentation skills. Dance attire required.

Summer Dance Intensive (9-17 years old) Technique
This week long camp has been especially designed for our leveled program students. During this camp the Students will continue to deepen their knowledge of technique in a very consistent and devoted manner. We intend to create an environment where our students will feel like professional dancers, with daily classes. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance variation that they had learned during camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements.

Summer Ballet Intensive (9-17 years old) Ballet
This week long camp has been especially designed for our Intensive Ballet levels. During this camp the Students will continue to deepen their knowledge of ballet fundamental technique in a very consistent and devoted manner. We intend to create an environment where our students will feel like professional dancers, with daily practices two weeks in a row. On the last day of camp the students will present a short dance variation that they had learned during camp. Come and applaud your dancer's achievements.
